What Does RIDE THE LIGHTS PRODUCTIONS Do?
We are entering a new era in the music industry, an era in which the way an artist's music gets delivered to fans is ever changing. With the onslaught of uncontrollable websites, where music is downloaded and distributed for free, it is becoming more difficult to recoup album budgets with sales alone. Here at RTL, we are offering a brand new service that will revolutionize your music distribution. Teamed up with the new "Rock Band Network" by Harmonix Systems, every band will now have the opportunity to have their tracks available for download via Xbox Live. (Playstation 3 coming soon)

Why Use RIDE THE LIGHTS PRODUCTIONS?
Ride The Lights is owned and operated by Grammy Nominated producer Joe Marlett. With over 12 years experience in the music industry and countless credits with Gold and Platinum artists, Marlett understands the details and intricacies that go into making hit records. Teamed up with professional recording engineers, musicians and game programmers, RTL is setting a new standard for how rhythm games will be charted, played and heard.

How Does It Work?
In its simplest form, the multi-track recording is sent to us in any format, whether it's Protools, Logic, Digital Performer, Nuendo or Analog. We then take the multi-track recordings and make stem mixes formatted specifically for the interface software that Harmonix Systems has created. Once the stems have been mixed, we then chart the correct MIDI notes to correspond with the colored dots that appear on the TV screen as the game is played. After the game has been charted, it will go through a rigorous in-house testing phase to ensure its playability. Next, the game will be uploaded to Harmonix Systems to be tested. Upon passing, it will be made available on the Rock Band Network ready for download by millions of Rock Band Users!

What Makes RIDE THE LIGHTS PRODUCTIONS Unique?
RTL takes special care in how your music is charted. We make sure that every song is optimized for consistency, performance, playability, sonics and of course, fun! All of our charters are musicians first, and gamers second. This is evident in every detail of the finished product, from how the notes are placed on the instrument tracks, to how the songs are mixed sonically. No more non-rhythmic drum parts or clunky, unplayable guitar rhythms. We want to make sure that both non-musician gamers, and musician gamers are able to appreciate and play every song with optimal enjoyment.

How Does The Artist/Band Make Money?
Harmonix Systems has announced that Artists and Labels will set their own price for songs, anywhere from $1.00USD - $3.00USD per song, and retain 30%. All bands, from major to inde, will be receiving the same 70/30 split. Royalties will be paid out quarterly, and all clients of RTL will be able to log on to our secure server to track downloads. At NO point will Ride The Lights Productions ever own the rights to your songs, we simply retain the rights to publish and distribute them on Rock Band. This is required by Harmonix Systems to ensure that all songs submitted are protected from copyright infringement.

Security
Ride The Lights understands the importance of security for your songs. All songs submitted to RTL will be logged in and contained on our encrypted and secured hard drive systems which are only accessable to RTL. At no point will un-authorized persons have access to the raw un-mixed tracks or full sessions. Every employee of Ride The Lights is required to sign non-disclosure agreements to ensure the highest level of security.

How To Send Songs?
As stated earlier, RTL will accept all formats of Digital and Analog recordings. When sending Digital, all we require is that the sessions be loaded onto a small USB drive, Firewire drive, or simply the backup drive. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT MASTER DRIVES. If sending Analog, we will transfer the song(s) into Protools, then send the original tape(s) back. Ride The Lights is set up with a full HD Protools studio, RTL Studios. Since most records are now recorded and mixed in Protools, we can easily pull up mix sessions and create the mix stems keeping the integrity of original mixes, and making only slight adjustments for the Rock Band software and TV.

What Does The Future Hold?
The rhythm gaming industry is growing stronger and stronger every day. It's only a matter of time before we see all records being released with their Rock Band counterparts. When that happens, Ride The Lights will be at the forefront, creating quality and cutting edge tracks.

Thank you,
Ride The Lights Productions team.
